Welcome to my 1st monthly dividend income report for August 2019. In this report, I'll cover my passive dividend income growth along with dividend increases and changes in my portfolio as I aim for my dividend income to surpass my monthly expenses.
August 2019 Dividend Income Summary
August is the first month I actively tried to build out my passive income through dividend stocks and really build up a portfolio of solid companies.
My total dividend income for August 2019 was $3.61.
These holdings are broken down between my Fundrise, Robinhood and Fidelity individual & SEP IRA accounts.
I received dividend income from my REIT holdings at Fundrise and dividend paying stocks across the brokerage accounts listed above.
To keep these numbers simple, I'll list the companies I own along with the dividends received.
Company | Ticker | Dividends Received |
---|---|---|
Realty Income | O | 0.23 |
ATT | T | 1.53 |
Apple Hospitality REIT | APLE | 0.60 |
Credit Suisse High Yield Bond Fund | DHY | 0.04 |
Gladstone Land Corporation | LAND | 0.22 |
Sirius XM | SIRI | 0.22 |
Fundrise | N/A | 0.77 |
Total (in USD) | $3.61 |
August 2019 Purchases
The markets were choppy all month but I did make a few purchases for my dividend portfolio:
- Apple Hospitality REIT (APLE)
- Wendys (WEN)
- Sirius XM (SIRI)
- Fundrise REIT
Most of my purchases added to previous positions except for Wendy's. Wendy's stock is trading at an affordable P/E ratio of 11 and I decided to pick up a few shares.
August is also the first month I opened an account with Fundrise. Fundrise is a crowdsourcing REIT company for investing money in US based real estate projects. The company allows you to earn dividends & capital apprecition by directing your funds towards their growing portfolio of real estate projects. I'm new to REIT investing and will provide more information on this new investment vehicle as my account grows.
August 2019 Dividend Increases
No dividend increases for August but I'm looking forward to September when Ford pays their quarterly dividend.
Closing Summary
Earning $3 in dividend income isn't alot but it's better than zero. My goal is to reach $1,000 per month in dividend income so I invite you to follow along as I reach towards my goal of financial independence.
How did your dividend portfolio perform in August? What stocks did you buy?
Got to start somewhere! I will check out Fundrise, have not heard of it yet. I will likely be diversifying my medical office building reit portfolio very soon. I have been probably spending way too much time on DOC but it has been somewhat entertaining. Good luck with everything!

Thanks. I just started with Fundrise too. Planning on writing an update once I get a month or two return from the portfolio.
