Bitcoin’s Price History

Bitcoin is the world’s first and oldest cryptocurrency that was invented after the 2008 banking crisis.

As of February 2021, Bitcoin trades at over $52,000 per coin but Bitcoin didn’t always trade this high.

In this article, we’ll cover Bitcoin’s price history ever since its inception and some potential future price targets for Bitcoin.

Bitcoin Price History

When Bitcoin was originally created, the price of 1 Bitcoin was zero. It wasn’t until January 9th, 2009 that Bitcoin’s psuedonoymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto mined the first 50 Bitcoins and Bitcoin gained real world value.

In 2010, Bitcoin’s price increased from $0.0008 to $0.08 cents and Bitcoin Pizza day marked the first real world transaction when someone paid 10,000 Bitcoins for 2 pizzas.

This transaction gave Bitcoin real world value and started the trend of using digital cryptocurrency as a realistic alternative to fiat currency.
