Bank of America Pays $28 Million to Retain Countrywide President

Bank of America Corp. (NYSE: BAC) has agreed to pay $28 million in cash and stock to Countrywide Financial Corp. President David Sambol as an incentive for him to stay with Bank of America after its planned acquisition of the mortgage lender.

Dow Jones at 16,000?

Air France Poses Bid for Alitalia

Air France-KLM SA (NYSE: AKH) sweetened its bid for Alitalia SpA by offering to take back almost half the staff at the ground and maintenance business as it seeks backing from Italian labor unions, according to a document seen by Dow Jones Newswires Friday.
