Anytime I come across a new potential investment, the same old theme reappears again and again: investor relations. Somehow, I find myself catapulted from MSN Money or Yahoo! Finance to an obscure, and often times bizarre, investor relations site. These pages are made of we investors alike who crave a liquid company that lays EVERYTHING out in the open for us.
And here is my overall observation about these sites…Often their information quality and openness correlates with the attitude and honesty of its management. What exactly do I mean by that? A company whose IR section provides thorough web presentations, all of its SEC filings and webcasts, quarterly reports along with annual reports, historical prices and forward looking statements is probably not a bad bet (assuming its fundamentals and management are sound).
For example, go to Ebay.com
Here, you will find its core information on the left hand side neatly organized and easy to follow. It also provides quotes and other current information out in the open. To me, eBay is saying ” I have NOTHING to Hide!
Strong companies make their voices heard….Along with their websites.

Great post! I couldn’t agree more
