The top IRA providers range from Fidelity, Vanguard, T.Rowe, etc. Here's some information that will be further useful to the people hereFidelity Investments offers a no-fee IRA. There’s a $2,500 minimum initial deposit, but this is waived if you commit to $200/month automatic contributions. They offer 4,500 mutual funds, about a quarter of which have no transaction fee. In short, you can open a no-cost IRA at Fidelity with a $200 starting investment if you invest in mutual funds and you agree to contribute $200/month. Apply for a Roth IRA with Fidelity. It’s also possible to open a no-cost Roth IRA at The Vanguard Group. To do this, you must elect to receive electronic statements and start with $1000 in the company’s STAR fund. (The STAR fund is an mutual fund of mutual funds, a safe choice for beginners.) Additional contributions require a minimum of $100 unless you use their Automatic Investment Plan, in which case the minimum is $50. There are no fees to purchase the STAR fund. Start a Roth IRA at Vanguard.T. Rowe Price charges $10/year for Roth IRA accounts until you have a balance above $5,000, after which there is no fee. You need $1,000 to open your IRA, but this minimum goes away if you sign up to contribute at least $50/month with the Automatic Asset Builder. There are no sales fees or commissions to invest this money in T. Rowe Price mutual funds

Great article. During this process the firm contacted the state and asked if they showed any outstanding debts. The firm was told there were no outstanding obligations. One week later the state placed a leavy on his account for more than the amount he even had in the account. During the day (which happened to be his birthday) we went out to dinner and a movie, shopping, etc... He had checked his account at 2pm and when we arrived home at about midnight he had the leavy and seven overdrafts on his account. When he talked to the bank they directed him to the 1-800 # and said they wouldn't be able to do anything at branch level. The very rude person on the phone that he spoke with basically told him it's not our fault and he needs to contact the state and make them pay back the overdraft fees. Yeah right!!!! The government isn't going to give him anything for the problem they caused. I'm fusterated and not sure what the next step to take would be. It would be one thing if he spent money he didn't have but for them to charge him when it was notyhing he could control and not correct on top of it... ARGH!!!! Has anyone tried the small claims thing. I'm thinking that might work.

About a month ago my boyfriend hired a firm to take care of a situation with his taxes. They charged me the overdraft fee. No big deal. A few days later, they charged me ANOTHER overdraft fee for an "extended overdraft". Okay...I guess no big deal. My fault. I don't have a bank nearby. I work all day and by the time I come home, I don't have time to drive 45 minutes to the closest branch. It is hard for me to deposit money into the account. Well, I had previously opened an account with Wells Fargo so that is the one I use most of the time. When I finally got a letter from BOA telling me that they were going to close my account, report it, and charge me interest, I of course went to deposit money. I had to do it online from my Wells Fargo account, though. In the process of verifying my BOA account from WF, they made 2 trial deposits totaling $0.30. Of course, when they withdrew that $0.30 from my BOA account, they charged me an overdraft fee. I called them and talked to this nice girl but she reassured me that there is nothing they can do because since so many people have been overdrafting they do not issue "courtesy credits" anymore. Since I think that it is BOGUS that they charged me for trying to put money in my account from another bank (because that is ultimately what it is), I was polite but asked to speak to a manager. She took my number and information and told me that she would be sure to have a manager/supervisor call me asap. It's been 2 days. No one has called. I get that they want money, but $35 for 30 cents?! AND the 30 cents was part of the process for me to pay them?! I'm so outraged right now. I hate Bank of America. As soon as this is resolved, I'm closing my account. DONT USE BOA EVER! In all honesty, this is not the first time something like this has happened to me. I checked my account balance one evening before bed and it was all good, the next day I was at -$900! How does that happen? I didn't even use my account for 2 weeks! I absolutely hate them. Worst bank ever. I love Wells Fargo. Their customer service is A+++.

I overdrafted my bank account at Bank of America to pay for an emergency vet visit for my puppy. Biggest mistake of my life. They have the price to attract the customer, but customer service was terrible. I had wired funds and was successful at my bank end, but to find out about their unusual document limitations they had rejected the transfer because I had a joint account. They stated that I cannot use 3rd party to deposit funds. Clearly, I was the account holder showing my name and my partner's name on the bank statement they had requested from me, but they insisted that I was the 3rd party. They had redefined the definition of 3rd party according to "their 3rd party policy". They had wired back the money and deducted the fee from their side. Although it was a small amount of $25 that they had robbed from me, I had spent almost 6 hours going back and forth sending documents and conversation to find out I was robbed at the end. It was just a waste of time. I am definitely not going to recommend them for that matter!

I just signed up for Tradeking after finding out about there $4.95 flat fee.
